Dimensionless exponent controlling how wetted area expands with stored volume (A = Amax(V/Vmax)β). Values β < 1 indicate strong lateral spreading at low storage (shallow bed with gently sloping sides); β ≈ 1 implies near-linear scaling; β > 1 indicates limited lateral spreading at low storage (shallow bed with steep sides). Typical range: 0.5–2.0.
